Michael V Smith

Michael V. Smith is a writer, comedian, filmmaker, performance artist and occasional clown. He has won a Western Magazine Award for Fiction, scooped a number of film festival prizes across the country, and was nominated for the Journey Prize. Smith is the author of the novel Cumberland, winner of the inaugural Dayne Ogilvie Award for Emerging Gay Writers and nominated for the Amazon/Books in Canada First Novel Award.  His collection of poemsm What You Cant Have was short-listed for the Relit Prize. His new collection, Body of Text, created with photographer David Ellingsen, is a concrete poetry flipbook, out this spring with BookThug. Smith teaches at the University of British Columbia Okanagan.
