Tom Wayman (Calgary)

Tom Wayman

Tom Wayman practices improvisonal spoken word eight months a year while working as a teacher at the University of Calgary.  The other four months he says very little where he makes his home deep in the Selkirk Mountains of southeastern B.C.  His latest collection of poems, his seventeenth, is High Speed Through Shoaling Water (Harbour, 2007).  Two collections of his short fiction also appeared in 2007, Boundary Country (Thistledown) and A Vain Thing (Turnstone).  His most recent critical book is Songs Without Price: The Music of Poetry in a Discordant World (University of Vancouver Island, 2008).
