The 2007 Calgary SLAM Team!

Sabo, Moe Clark, Kirk Ramdath, Shone Abet

Kirk Ramdath

Kirk Ramdath is a socially conscious spoken word poet and member of the 2007 Calgary Slam Team. In August, 2007 he was invited to perform on the main stage of GlobalFest in Calgary in front of over 5,000 people. In July, 2007 he performed at the South Country Fair in Fort MacLeod, Alberta. He was a member of the 2006 Calgary Slam Team that performed in Toronto in October, 2006. He is passionate about art advocacy. Since April, 2006 he has been Editor-in-Chief of Eleventh Transmission, Calgary’s arts, culture, media, and activism magazine.

Moe Clark

Möe Clark is a Métis Calgarian who explores not only the facets of spoken word poetry, but also thrives in the visual realm of graphic design and interdisciplinary artistic collaborations. She’s performed on various stages over the past four years, including the ’05 & ’07 Calgary Spoken Word Festival, and regularly at Thought Express events. At the 2007 “CBC Calgary Poetry Face Off”, Möe performed her piece “Intersecting Circles” and took home the winning prize. In the summer of ‘07 her award-winning poem was hand-picked by the artistic director for the Charlottetown Confederation Centre Young Company’s 2007 summer performance “Alberta Fusion”.

Shone Abet

Calgary poet, Shone Abet is counted as one of Canada’s most OUTspoken word activists. Engaging audience members through conversation and suggestion, Abet reflects on personal identity, experience, body image, activism and popular culture. Her performance credits include the Calgary International Spoken Word Festival, Canadian Festival of Spoken Word, Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues, and One Yellow Rabbit’s High Performance Rodeo. She is honored to have shared the stage with such inspiring influences as Sheri-D Wilson , Ivan E. Coyote, and Kinnie Starr to name a few.
